asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the value of goods lost due to hijackings from lorries in each of the years from 1960 to 1969.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received on the use of anti-theft devices to combat the increasing loss of goods from vehicles; and what replies he has sent.

Mr. Elystan Morgan:

The Home Office Standing Committee on Crime Prevention, which includes representatives of industry and commerce, has pressed the need for such devices, and consultations are in progress with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders on the fitting of appropriate devices to commercial vehicles.
