HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 c422W
Mr. Barnes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services in how many cases at the present time the Supplementary Benefits Commission has refused to meet the full cost of council rents; and if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a breakdown of this figure by the local authorities involved.

Mr. Ennals:

Regular returns of the number of unmet rents are not made and it is therefore not possible to say more than that the number of local authority rents not met in full is now probably between 5,000 and 6,000 most of which are in the London area. Detailed records are not available for individual local authorities.
