asked the Secretary of State for Defence what types of rifles have been issued to Her Majesty's Armed Forces since 1945.

Mr. Richard:

The following rifles have been issued to the Armed Forces since 1945:

  • No. 4.0303 inch Lee Enfield.
  • No. 5.0303 inch Lee Enfield.
  • Self Loading Rifle N.A.T.O. calibre 7.62 mm.
  • AR 15 (Armalite) calibre 5.56 mm.
  • No. 4T 0.303 Lee Enfield (sniper).
