asked the Secretary of State for Defence what types of tanks have been in use by Her Majesty's Armed Forces since 1945; and on what dates they respectively came into service.

The following are the main types of tank introduced into British Army service since 1945:

Charioteer: Tank destroyer introduced in 1953.

Conqueror: Heavy tank destroyer introduced in 1953.

Centurion: Main battle tank introduced in 1945.

Chieftain: Main battle tank introduced in 1966.
