Mr. Anderson

asked the Secretary of State for Wales when he expects work to start on the improvement of the section of the Newport to Shrewsbury trunk road A465 east of Hall's Bridge.

Mr. George Thomas:

I have authorised Monmouthshire County Council as my agents to accept the £ 185,286 tender of Brunswick Contractors (Cardiff) Ltd. for the improvement of this section of the road. I understand that work is expected to start shortly and will take about 21 months to complete.
