Mr. Anderson

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether, upon local government reorganisation in Monmouthshire, he will transfer the assets of the Cwmbran Development Corporation to the strengthened unitary authority.

Mr. George Thomas:

I have no authority under the New Towns Act, 1965, to transfer the assets of development corporations to local authorities. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government hopes to make a statement in the summer and I cannot anticipate this.
