HC Deb 06 May 1970 vol 801 cc154-6W
Mr. Bishop

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that it is proposed to use a British ship for an exhibition at sea involving the sale of pornographic books, pictures and films; and if he will give an assurance that he will institute proceedings under the Customs and Excise Act, 1952, and other legislation to prevent the importing of such articles.

Mr. Taverne:

The importation of indecent or obscene articles is prohibited and any necessary action will be taken by Customs who are responsible for enforcing the prohibition.
