§ 53. Mrs. Joyce Butlerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what proposals he has received from the London Borough of Haringey to increase its housing programme in the years 1970 to 1974; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Freeson:None. It has halved its programme. My right hon. Friend urged it to expand or at least maintain the council's original programme of 900 to 1,000 dwellings started per year, bringing in housing associations as a nett addition, but this it was not prepared to do. It has, however, guaranteed that the previous programme will be maintained by council building and housing association building taken together. We shall look to it to honour this promise.
