asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will now announce the amounts of compensation which will be payable, and when, to United Kingdom subjects deported at short notice and with no reason given from Zambia over the past four years.

Mr. Foley:

As the hon. Member is aware numerous representations have been made to the Zambian Government about seven claims totalling approximately £65,000 but so far, I am afraid, without result. We shall continue to press for a settlement.
