Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proposals he has approved for the construction of old persons' homes within the seven crofting counties since 1966; and what applications he has refused.

The information follows:

Old Persons' Homes for which approval has been given since 1st January, 1966

Bowmore, Argyll.

Pultney House, Wick, Caithness.

Muir of Ord, Ross and Cromarty.

Homes provisionally included in building programme for 1970–71 and 1971–72

1970–71

Strontian, Argyll.

1971–72

Ballachulish (Extension).

Thurso, Caithness.

Homes proposed by local authorities but which have not yet been included in the building programme to 1971.72

Kirkwall, Orkney.

Fort William, Inverness.

Dornie, Ross and Cromarty.

Arthurville House, Tain, Ross and Cromarty.

These proposals will be considered for inclusion in the programme in a review about to take place.
