HC Deb 26 March 1970 vol 798 c456W
10. Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what plans she has, in view of the growing environmental hazards in industry, for the extension of the medical and laboratory aspects of the work of the Factory Inspectorate.

Mr. Harold Walker

The Employed Persons (Health and Safety) Bill, one of whose objects is to establish a new Employment Medical Advisory Service within our Department, received its Second Reading on 2nd March. The new service will have its own central laboratory and have access to the laboratory facilities of the National Health Service. In addition, the Industrial Hygiene Unit of the Factory Inspectorate is continuing to expand.
