HC Deb 26 March 1970 vol 798 c470W
46. Mr. Hastings

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what further proposals he has for encouraging computer studies in teacher training colleges and for practising teachers.

Mr. Fowler

Many colleges of education include computer appreciation in their mathematics courses, and the purchase of simple equipment for training in computer methods is approved where appropriate. A number of colleges use computer equipment at neighbouring institutions for the training of specialist teachers of relevant subjects. Courses on computer education for practising teachers are included in the Department's programme and provision will be expanded as necessary.
