HC Deb 25 March 1970 vol 798 c420W
58. Mr. Brian Harrison

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he intends taking this year to encourage farmers to spray crops before the blossoms open in order to protect bee colonies pollinating blossom.

Mr. Hoy

Farmers will be encouraged to spray crops before the blossoms open; this will be done by a Press notice, by a broadcast announcements, by advisory leaflets and by N.A.A.S. advice to individuals; and, indirectly, by letters sent to the National Farmers' Union and to the National Association of the contractors, manufacturers and merchants concerned in the spraying of crops.
