asked the Minister of Transport what was the estimated percentage increase in all motor vehicles on the roads between 1959 and 1964, and the equivalent percentage figures for the years 1965 to 1969.

The number of motor vehicles licensed in Great Britain increased by 43 per cent. between 1959 and 1964—representing an annual rate of 7.4 per cent. The percentage increases in each of the following years compared with the previous year were:
