asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government why he will not obtain records of the number of families on the housing lists of the local authorities in Dorset.

The Department wishes wherever possible to be helpful to hon. Members even on matters not within the Department's responsibility but I do not think it a justifiable use of Departmental resources to make inquiries of this kind involving a large number of local authorities.
