HC Deb 23 March 1970 vol 798 c287W
Mr. Kimball

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has had about the future of his office in Gainsborough; and if he will now reconsider his decision to close this office and move it to Scunthorpe.

Mr. O'Malley

Apart from a letter from the hon. Member, to which I shall be replying shortly, a letter from the clerk of the council for the Urban District of Gainsborough, to which a reply was sent on 9th March.

It is not our intention to close the Gainsborough office. The backroom clerical work will be transferred to Scunthorpe but a full-time office will be maintained in Gainsborough to provide a comprehensive service for callers.
