Mr. Peter Mills

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) whether he will take steps to provide better hostel facilities for adult handicapped persons in North Devon;

(2) whether he will take steps to provide better hostel facilities for mentally handicapped children in North Devon.

There has within the last few years been considerable development of facilities in North Devon for physically and mentally handicapped adults and for mentally handicapped children, and I know that the county council has plans for further development as resources permit.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what discussions his Department has had with the North Devon and Bideford Handicapped Association over the problems of handicapped people in North Devon; and what action he has taken.
