asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the total cost to the Inland Revenue arising out of legal actions involved in settling matters pertaining to rating and valuation annually from 1960 to the nearest available date.

Information about the total cost to the Inland Revenue is not available. With permission, I shall circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT the annual figures of costs paid and recovered by the Inland Revenue in appeals against valuations, in accordance with the award of the Lands Tribunal or the courts.
