HC Deb 17 March 1970 vol 798 c96W
Mr. Woof

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what effect he estimates that the burning off to atmosphere of coke oven gas, resulting from failure to find alternative markets for gas displaced by North Sea gas, will have on the environment.

Mr. Greenwood

I am informed that burning off may prove unnecessary. Nevertheless the Alkali Inspectorate are discussing with the industry the best ways of dealing with the problems that might arise. I am advised that there need be little or no adverse effect upon the environment.
