HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 c37W
Mrs. Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what is the current male employee activity rate in England, Scotland and Wales, respectively; and what it was in each of the last five years to the most convenient date.

Mr. Dell

Male employee activity rates for the years 1964–68 are given in the following table:—

Year England Scotland Per cent Wales
1964 77.2 76.7 68.9
1965 77.3 76.2 68.4
1966 77.2 75.9 68.2
1967 76.0 75.5 66.7
1968 74.9 74.5 65.6

Male employee activity rates are defined as the estimated numbers of male employees aged 15 and over at mid-year expressed as a percentage of the estimated mid-year male home population aged 15 and over. The corresponding figures for 1969 will be available very shortly.
