HC Deb 12 March 1970 vol 797 cc374-5W
Mr. John Wells

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many speech therapists were employed in the National Health Service both full-time and part-time at the last convenient date and five years earlier.

Dr. John Dunwoody

At 30th September, 1969, 109 speech therapists were working full time and the whole-time equivalent of 57 were working part-time in hospitals in England and Wales. The comparable figures for 1964 were 70 and 44. A few speech therapists are employed by local health authorities but precise information on numbers is not available centrally.
