HC Deb 09 March 1970 vol 797 c235W
Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what is the ratio of vacancies to persons employed in Wales and England, respectively.

Mr. Dell

At March, 1969, the latest date for which provisional employment estimates for Wales and England are at present available, the ratios between notified vacancies remaining unfilled and employees in employment in Wales and in England were 1:120 and 1:76, respectively. This calculation is based only on unfilled vacancies notified to employment exchanges and youth employment service careers offices and these vacancies do not purport to measure the total demand for labour.
