HC Deb 22 July 1970 vol 804 cc139-40W
Mr. Douglas

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what contingency plans his office has in hand to cater for the increase in unemployment in Scotland arising from acceptance of the South of Scotland Electricity Board's requests to operate commercially.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

No such general proposal has been submitted to me. In examining specific proposals from the Board for the fuelling of power stations I will consider very carefully not only the use of resources involved but also the wider social and economic implications, including any likely effects on colliery employment.
