HC Deb 22 July 1970 vol 804 c126W
59. Mr. Judd

asked the Minister of State for Defence whether he will make a statement on the Government's policy towards the use of civil contractors for work required by his Department in Royal Naval Dockyards.

Mr. Kirk

The general policy is to use outside contractors only in those cases where either it would be uneconomic to maintain highly specialised skill and facilities in the dockyards or where there is a shortage of dockyard labour in the trades concerned.
