HC Deb 22 July 1970 vol 804 cc125-6W
58. Mr. Wall

asked the Minister of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the run-down programme for the three Services in Singapore and Malaysia.

Lord Balniel

Under existing plans British forces in Singapore and Malaysia are running down progressively up to the end of December, 1971. It is unnecessary at this stage to alter the present planned arrangements as our forces in the area will for some time to come remain larger than our military presence is likely to be.
