HC Deb 22 July 1970 vol 804 cc131-2W
69. Earl of Dalkeith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he proposes to take to ensure the preservation of the New Town in Edinburgh.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

I am awaiting the full report of the recent Conferencse organised by the Scottish Civic Trust. When it is available I would expect early discussions about the Conference's main recommendations to take place between the Scottish Office, Edinburgh Corporation, the Historic Buildings Council for Scotland and the Trust In the meantime I have made an Order, to bring Part V of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act, 1969 into operation on 3rd August and the associated Regulations will be laid before the House tomorrow.
