§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Public Building and Works whether he will give for the latest most convenient stated date the number of Government buildings rented or leased and the total cost to the Government of such rentings and hirings, either annually or at the latest stated date.
§ Mr. AmeryOn 1st October, 1969 my Ministry held 6,238 leases, as distinct from leased buildings, in the United Kingdom, for which the total rent was then £27,817,000 per annum. At 31st March, 1970 there were 784 leased buildings in the Ministry's overseas estate, with a rental of £1,670,000 per annum.
