HC Deb 13 July 1970 vol 803 c128W
Mr. David Clark

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will classify brucellosis as a prescribed industrial disease so that agricultural and allied workers contracting it can get compensation.

Mr. Dean

Cover is already provided against accidental contraction of brucellosis in the course of employment by the accident provisions of the Industrial Injuries Act. In addition, the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council has been asked to consider whether the conditions for prescription laid down by Section 56(2) of the Act are satisfied, and whether there is a need to prescribe the disease in view of the existing cover.
