HC Deb 29 January 1970 vol 794 c369W
4. Sir G. Nabarro

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether she will state the total loss of working days, correct to the nearest million, on account of strikes and stoppages in 1963 and 1969, respectively; and what steps she is taking to reduce losses in 1970.

Mr. Harold Walker

Stoppages of work due to industrial disputes in 1963 and 1969 resulted in the loss of 2 million and 7 million working days respectively. The Government is tackling the underlying causes of strikes through its work to reform and extend the system of collective bargaining.
