HC Deb 26 January 1970 vol 794 c239W
78. Mr. Randall

asked the Minister of Technology how many new jobs he estimates will be provided in the Gateshead area during the next few years.

Mr. Varley

Jobs in prospect expected to arise during the next four years in Gateshead in authorised new industrial buildings and in existing buildings taken over by manufacturing industry are estimated to be 1,800 of which 1,200 are for males. The corresponding figures for the whole Tyneside travel-to-work area are 7,300 and 4,300.
