HC Deb 26 January 1970 vol 794 c239W
Mr. Bishop

asked the Minister of Technology what representations have been made to him regarding the need to reduce the capital indebtedness of the National Coal Board; and if he will consider such action in view of the burden of interest payments and their effect on the board's finances.

Mr. Alan Williams

Suggestions of this kind are canvassed from time to time, but my hon. Friend will remember that the board's capital was written down by £415 million less than five years ago. I see no justification for reducing it further.
