HC Deb 19 January 1970 vol 794 c1W
6. Mr. Tudor Watkins

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what financial support the Countryside Commission is making towards the European Conservation Year for projects in Wales; and whether he will report progress in connection with the work of the Committee for Wales.

Mrs. White

The Countryside Commission expect to spend £300 on a leaflet prepared by the Countryside in 1970 Committee for Wales: £150 on a combined exhibition at the Royal Welsh Show and a further £1,000 on a display at the National Museum of Wales. They will meet 75 per cent. of any additional expenditure incurred by National Park planning authorities in highlighting European Conservation Year at their information centres. They have also produced 500,000 copies of a leaflet for distribution in England and Wales at a cost of £1,300.

The Countryside in 1970 Committee for Wales has generated great interest in Wales through its four Working Groups. Ten County Committees have been set up, over 200 projects are being organised and a Project Officer has been appointed to co-ordinate developments.
