§ 82. Mr. Grimondasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will initiate international consultations to seek to prevent a recurrence of the events which led to the loss of the s.s. "Irene" which put to sea with insufficient fuel and was some 300 miles out in her reckoning.
§ Mr. Goronwy RobertsInternational consultations are already in progress through the Intergovernmental Maritime Consultative Organisation and the International Labour Organisation on all matters which could be expected to reduce the risk of an incident of this kind. In particular, a joint I.M.C.O./I.L.O. Committee is providing valuable advice to governments on standards for training of officers and crew.
