asked the President of the Board of Trade if he has studied the report, entitled Government and the Exporter, produced by the Export Research Group, a copy of which has been sent to him; if he will commission an independent survey amongst exporters of the effectiveness of incentives and services for the promotion of exports; and if he will make a statement.

The weakness of this report, which I have studied, is that it attempts to establish a simple relationship in what is a complex field. The effectiveness of our service to exporters is under constant review and I do not consider that expenditure on a special survey would be justified.
