HC Deb 20 February 1970 vol 796 cc197-8W
Dr. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the expectation of life of the Windfall sail-training yachts still remaining in the Services; and what arrangements he is making for their replacement.

Dr. David Owen

The remaining Windfall yachts are well over 30 years old and are expected to reach the end of their useful lives within the next six years. The three Services will take this into account in their longer-term planning for the provision of sailing facilities to meet their varying needs. It is, however, too early to anticipate the outcome of consideration into the need for or type of replacements.
