HC Deb 17 February 1970 vol 796 cc106-7W
Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the circumstances in which three British citizens who arrived from Nairobi at London Airport on Monday morning, 9th February were refused entry and returned by Swiss Air flight 807 to Nairobi via Zurich; and whether he will make a statement on their present whereabouts.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

These passengers sought admission without having obtained the proper documents of entitlement from the British High Commission at Nairobi. There were refused admission and were returned to Zurich, where they now are, by the airline which brought them to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many holders of British passports are at present detained in custody in Great Britain following their arrival at United Kingdom ports or airports from overseas.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

Twenty-five.
