HL Deb 17 February 1970 vol 307 c1142WA
LORD DONALDSON OF KINGSBRIDGE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

In view of the decision to withdraw the transport allowance on blown timber from March 31 next, what quantity of the gale damage of 1968 is expected to be left uncleared by that date; and what proportion of the total damage suffered in the gale that quantity represents.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (LORD HUGHES)

The Windblow Action Group estimate that by March 31, 1970, about 156,000 tons will remain uncleared. This represents about 11 per cent. of the total quantity of timber blown down.
