§ Sir W. Bromley-Davenportasked the Minister of Transport whether the issue of the necessary documents and instructions with regard to the new regulations regarding the keeping of records by drivers of goods vehicles will have been completed by 1st March; whether he proposes to retain this date for the coming into operation of the Drivers' Hours (Goods Vehicles) (Keeping of Records) Regulations, 1970; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MulleyDrivers' records books meeting the requirements of the new regulations and including instructions on how to use them are now generally available and I see no reason to change the date on which the regulations will come into force.
I have already announced that I intend to regard the three months after 1st March as a transitional period during which my enforcement staff will be concentrating their efforts on bringing the new rules to the attention of employers and drivers.
