HC Deb 10 February 1970 vol 795 c319W
Mrs. Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his estimate for the current year of public expenditure on development of sport in Scotland; to how many organisations grants have been made to the last convenient date; and what is his estimate of the number of people benefiting.

Mr. Ross

The total Vote provision for grants for sport and physical recreation in Scotland in the current financial year is £0.822 million. Grants are made to 45 national voluntary organisations for headquarters administration and coaching or for participation in international events or both. So far this year, capital grants have been offered to 76 local sports organisations and 19 district councils. Undoubtedly very many people benefit or will benefit from these grants but I cannot estimate the number.
