§ Mr. RossThe basic subsidy under the Housing and Town Development (Scotland) Act, 1957, was a fixed sum of £24 a year, and under the Housing (Scotland) Act, 1962, was, depending on the local authority's financial position, either £12 or £32 a year; these subsidies did not vary with the size of the house. Under the current legislation, which applies to almost all houses approved since 1st January, 1965, the basic subsidy is related to the cost of the houses and to prevailing interest rates: it is not practicable to give figures for houses of various sizes, but for houses completed in the last four financial years the average amounts for all houses have been:
