§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what inquiries he has made into the case of Miss Margaret Stevens of Burges Road, East Ham, a 17-year-old female clerk who left the Department of Social Security three months ago, but has since been paid £1,000 in back pay; and how soon the excess payment will be reclaimed.
§ Mr. CrossmanMy inquiries have established that there was no such payment. Because of a regrettable error in the Department, payment of Miss Stevens's salary continued for two months after she left.
