asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give the mortality figures in respect of pregnancy and childbirth for the period 1st January, 1969, to 31st December, 1969.

During the period 1st January, 1969, to 30th September, 1969, there were 113 registered deaths assigned to pregnancy and childbirth (ICD 630–678) and 46 further registered deaths with mention of pregnancy and childbirth but assigned to other conditions. (England and Wales—provisional figures.)
