HC Deb 02 February 1970 vol 795 c10W
62. Mr. Goodhew

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the expulsion of two Polish diplomats.

Mr. George Thomson

Last October, we drew the attention of the Polish Ambassador to the fact that four members of his staff had been engaging in inadmissible activities. The Ambassador was invited to draw the appropriate conclusions.

The Polish Assistant Military Attaché left this country early in December. Shortly afterwards the Polish Ambassador was informed that it was desirable that the remaining three should leave by the end of the year. Since they had not done so, on 16th January the Second Secretary and two clerks of the Polish Embassy were declared personae non gratae. They had left this country by 20th January.
