HC Deb 02 February 1970 vol 795 cc15-6W
Mr. Stratton Mills

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government will endeavour to reconstitute the Jarring Mission rather than initiate Four-Power talks in the Middle East.

Mr. Foley

I have nothing to add to the reply which my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary gave my hon. Friend the Member for Newark (Mr. Bishop) on 21st January.—[Vol. 794, c. 152–3.]

Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what reports he has received on the situation in the Middle East from individuals holding public office, apart from civil servants and Ministers.

Mr. Foley

A number of recent visitors to the Middle East have given me their impressions and opinions. All these discussions were confidential.
