HC Deb 02 February 1970 vol 795 cc40-1W
Mr. Ridsdale

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the level of Government expenditure as a proportion of the gross national product for the United Kingdom, the United States of America, West Germany and Japan for each of the last 10 years, from information available to him from international sources.

Mr. Diamond

The following information is taken from the returns made to the O.E.C.D. and as far as possible comparable definitions have been used. However, such international comparisons cannot be wholly satisfactory because they are affected by differences in institutional arrangements.
