HC Deb 02 February 1970 vol 795 cc41-2W
Captain Kerby

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that full Customs facilities were withdrawn from Shoreham Municipal Airport during its occupation by the now bankrupt Beagle Aircraft 1968 Limited; and if he will, on the reversion of this airport to its municipal status, allow full Customs facilities to be re-introduced at Shoreham.

Mr. Taverne

Shoreham Municipal Airport ceased to be a Customs airport in 1940, although the Customs now provide facilities there for flights by United Kingdom businessmen. The extent of future Customs facilities will depend upon the volume and nature of the external traffic using the airport, regard being had to the facilities already available at other airfields in the locality.
