HC Deb 16 December 1970 vol 808 cc361-2W
128. Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many of the 24 teachers dismissed for failure to register with the General Teaching Council have subsequently registered and been re-employed; and how many teachers, having withheld their annual fees, have been removed from the register; and how many of these have been dismissed.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

Of the 24 teachers dismissed because they had failed to register in 1968 or 1969, four are currently registered but I have no information about their employment. I am not aware that any teacher has been dismissed as a result of failing to renew his registration for the current registration period. So far as removal from the register is concerned, this is a matter for the Council.
