asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he has any plans to raise the level of disregards as they affect supplementary benefits in the next six months.

No.

Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what estimates he has made of the numbers of claimants to supplementary benefits affected by disregarded income of each year from 1966.

Mr. Dean

In 1967, 804,000 recipients of supplementary benefit had some disregarded income; in 1968, 860,000; in 1969, 851,000. Figures for 1966 are not available.

Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the value of the 20s. and 40s. disregards worth at the latest date in comparison to when they were last raised in 1966.

Mr. Dean

The value of the 20s. and 40s. disregards, last raised in November, 1966, would be 16s. 6d. and 32s. 11d. respectively at October, 1970.
