asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the amount of the United Kingdom's official overseas debt outstanding at the end of September, 1970; and what was the amount at the end of September, 1964.

At end-September, 1964, United Kingdom official long-term debt stood at £1,852 million. By end-September, 1970, it had risen to £2,217 million. At end-September, 1964, United Kingdom official short- and medium-term borrowing stood at £71 million. By end-September, 1970, it had risen to £1,611 million.
