§ Mr. Clinton Davisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proposals he has made to increase the salaries of probation officers.
§ Mr. CarlisleProbation officers' salaries were last increased on 1st April, 1970. The current agreement runs until the end of 1971, but provides that the Joint Negotiating Committee for the Probation Service shall without commitment review the agreement in January, 1971, and that the settlement could, if appropriate, be revised and any new salary scales have effect from 1st April, 1971. I am unable at this stage to forecast the outcome.
